Staying on track is hard work

I have been paying down debt for some time now. And apparently the summer weather is getting to me. I just want to go out and do stuff that costs money! But I need to be paying things down instead. Argh. So frustrating. I try to tell myself that I can have the fun once the debt is paid off. But the debt is so much. It could be so long. Just frustrated.

Maybe you can find some intermediate "milestones" to make the end goal not seem so ominous? When you hit those milestones, reward yourself. Don't go nuts about it, but pamper yourself in some way. Go out for a nice dinner. Get a massage. Do something that makes you want to keep fighting the good fight.

Good luck to you! I'll be rooting for you!

Matt's right. For instance, last year (before I got serious about getting rid of my debt), I took a week-and-a-half-long trip to Canada that I really couldn't afford. This summer, I'm taking a three-day trip to Chicago instead--but I'll be paying for it in cash and not tripping up my debt payments! :)
